Mawi DNA Technologies has developed the iSWAB system, a non-invasive sample collection technology that delivers 10 – 30mg of DNA with <1% bacterial contamination. Swabs are used to easily collect samples from any population segment including infants and elderly. However this unique system removes buccal cells from the swab at the point of collection, so there is no need to process swabs in the lab. Samples are stable at room temperature for years. Customers are finding high molecular weight, double stranded DNA that is ideal for downstream microarray or NGS platforms. Applications include genetic analysis, epigenetics, forensics, and animal testing. Although the system is compatible with most swab types, several customers have successfully validated the use of Copan FLOQSwabsTM with iSWAB and have combined the products in their workflow for optimal results. We highly recommend the use of Copan FLOQSwabsTM with Mawi’s iSWAB sample collection system.
