“Biobanking of these samples creates opportunities for new research, resolution of numerous unanswered questions.”
Biobanking has increasingly become a popular research tool to analyze human bodily fluids and tissue samples for genomics, medical research, and personalized medicine. A key aspect of biobanking is the process of preparation and storage of samples, which are often frozen for several months or even years. The process of long-term cryopreservation presents economic issues for many biobank repositories.
Mawi DNA Technologies presents a long-term storage method under ambient temperature to make biobanking more economically sustainable. Using the iSWAB-DNA device can reduce cryopreservation costs while maintaining the integrity of the DNA at ambient temperatures. In this study, the iSWAB-DNA device was tested for long-term stability with real-tme aging and accelerated aging.
